As the people that pioneered ballooning in Cappadocia, we share your love for adventure. It's that passion, tempered with more than twenty years of experience flying balloons that has helped us become the best ballooning operator in Turkey. Every flight is a fantastic adventure as we float intimately amongst the fairy chimneys and soar over the magnificent Cappadocian landscape. A flight with Kapadokya Balloons™ is truly "the experience of a lifetime!" Join us in Cappadocia, for the best ballooning adventures on earth! And rest assured that there are no better pilots in Turkey than Lars and Kaili.

Cappadocia
The ancient region of Cappadocia lies in central Anatolia, between the cities of Nevşehir, Kayseri and Niğde. Here, the traveler finds one of the most fantastic landscapes in the world. Wind and weather have eroded soft volcanic rock into hundreds of strangely shaped pillars, cones and "fairy chimneys", often very tall, and in every shade from pink through yellow to russet browns.

Cappadocia is an extraordinary land, combining unique and beautiful natural features with a fascinating cultural and historical past. Hittites, Byzantines and early Christians established important landmarks here, as did Mother Nature with her stunning erosion of the soft volcanic deposits.

Göreme is the heart of Cappadocia and is an important area for shopping, with its wonderful carpets and kilims, onyx souvenirs, and very fine local wines. It is also a wonderful region for trekking and for photo-safaris. The scenery is breathtaking in all four seasons: miniature poppies in the springtime, the fruit and flowers of summertime, autumn's grapes and blaze of gold, and the winter blanket of snow.

BALLOONING

A hot-air balloon flight is unique from all other experiences of flight as there is no sensation of motion. Travelling at heights of up to 1500 feet, the feeling is one of peace and tranquility. The earth slowly descends and rotates below you. Within moments after lifting off you become at ease while you effortlessly drift over the treetops and the spectacular Cappadocian landscape. It is like a dream to gently float over the countryside in complete harmony with your surroundings.

The deep canyons and lush fertile valleys of Cappadocia provide our balloons with an ideal playground for a unique and memorable flight; gentle winds carry us over places that could never be reached except by balloon. Ballooning can be such fun! In season we can even pick apricots from the trees!

How many people can ride in a hot air balloon?
Balloons are constructed with greater or lesser volume to carry more or less weight. The smallest passenger balloons carry just the pilot! The largest passenger transporter in operation has a capacity of 24 passengers plus the pilot. Our balloons are designed to carry between 6 and 16 passengers.

How long does a balloon flight last?
The actual flight time averages more than an hour.

What fuel do balloons use?
Our hot air balloons carry 60 to 110 gallons (120 to 200 kg) of propane in stainless steel fuel tanks. We expect to use roughly 75% of the fuel during a single flight.

About Us
We are Kapadokya Balloons™. We offer ballooning adventures in Cappadocia Turkey. Kapadokya Balloons™ is the oldest established ballooning company in Turkey. We have flown more passengers in Turkey than all the other balloon companies combined, past and present. Our experience in this region allows us to choose the best launching locations for the most scenic flights possible for each day's weather conditions.

Lars and Kaili, our chief pilots, have almost 45 years of combined ballooning experience. They have personally flown close to 50,000 passengers, while maintaining a perfect safety record. Our fleet of luxury aircraft are the newest, safest and most comfortable balloons available in the world today. Our insurance coverage and safety standards far exceed that required by Turkish, European and American regulations.

Our Pilots
Lars and Kaili are the most experienced pilots in Turkey. They have accumulated valuable experience piloting large passenger balloons in Europe and America over the last 23 years and the novelty of the business never wears off! Every flight has its unique cocktail of events, dipping down to pick the apricots from the tree in flight and soaring above the landscape, picking out landmarks never before noticed.

Sharing the thrill with first-time passengers is a pilot's greatest privilege and never loses its charm...
